hello("world")
Now that I’ve gotten the required first data science/programing blog title out the way, (don’t worry I hear your groans and admonishment from here) welcome! My name is Eric Stern and I am a data scientist based out of Boulder Colorado. I work in the clean energy and the energy efficiency realm. I am most interested in how we can use behaviorial sciences to solve large problems in our climate crisis (more about that in a future post 😊).
Motivations
So the obvious question is, why are you starting yet another data science blog? Aren’t there more than enough? Yada yada yada. Well, you make some fair points. There are a lot but this is for me. In 2020 a main goal of mine is become a better data science communicator. After all, no matter how accurate or explainable your model is, you need to be able to eloquently explain why anyone should care. Also, I subscribe to the SMART goal ideology of goal writing which mandates quantifiable progress (it also has a great acronym which I love). So here is my goal with this blog:
In 2020 I want to improve my data science communication skills. I will do this by writing 12 blog post before January 1st 2021.
Content
So what will this blog be about? Well probably mostly data science (shocking right?). I plan to write about various subjects which may consist of, and not limited to:
- Energy Efficiency
- R
- Functional Programming
- Behavioral Economics
- Rock Climbing
- Cooking
- And hopefully lots more!
Thank you to all the opensource developers that allowed me to put this website together in a couple days with no web dev experience. Your work has made this process so pleasant.
Thank you for reading and until next time,
Eric
